
Occupational Health & Safety Policy
The management and all who work at Qualter Hall & Co Ltd are committed to provide a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and all other relevant associated legislation and other requirements including industry best practice to which the Company subscribes.
The company seeks to safeguard so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees and public and, where possible, to work with suppliers and contractors who themselves have sound occupational health & safety policies.
An essential feature of the occupational health & safety management system is a commitment to improving health & safety performance. This is achieved by setting annual improvement objectives and targets which are regularly monitored and reviewed. The objectives and targets are publicised throughout the company and all staff are committed to their achievement.
We will ensure that every aspect of our activities is conducted in accordance with sound health & safety practices. We will achieve this by our commitment to core safety principles that everyone in the company is required to embrace. These are:
- All injuries can be prevented, and prevention of personal injury is good business.
- Employee involvement is essential, and management are responsible for preventing injuries.
- Wherever possible, investing in the development of new products and processes that have an improved
performance regarding their impact on health & safety. - Complying with health & safety legislation and industry best practice, and ensure that arrangements and
resources exist to support this Policy. - All operating exposures can be safeguarded and carry out any relevant risk assessments to highlight any safety precautions that need to be implemented.
- Training employees to work safely is essential, and working safely and contributing to safety improvements
is a condition of employment. - Ensure all employees are aware of this policy and are trained to implement it to the best of their ability.
- Our collective task is to ensure that we continually improve the health & safety impact of our activities and to
engage and involve all employees in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
In order to ensure the achievement of the above commitments, the company has implemented an occupational health & safety management system which satisfies the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007
By this policy Qualter Hall & Co Ltd recognises its responsibility towards the protection of the employees and public, and issues this statement as a commitment of both management and employees to minimising the health & safety impact of its operations. The obligations and responsibilities required by the occupational health & safety management system have been communicated to all employees.
